We had a fantastic weekend this past weekend...the weather was gorgeous and we pulled out our fire pit...which immediately turned into "what food can we roast to perfection over the fire pit?". Of course the boy's first choice was marshmallows...even though he won't eat them after he roasts them....yep he's weird like that! Then we had a weenie roast (that's hot dogs for all you sick minded ppl out there...you know who you are!) and then we just sat and back and enjoyed the fire...I love fire. I could sit and stare at it for hours...I love the smell on my clothes that seems to last all night long...I just love it all.
The boy and all his neighbourhood friends have reconnected...life is good. We are one week away from the boy's big birthday...he's super excited...the party is on Saturday and I think I'm mostly prepared.
The next weekend after the boyfriend is taking off with some guys and going on a camping/fishing trip...so the girls and I decided we'd plan a camping trip of our own...no fishing will be going on...just a whole lot of drinking and hot tubbing lol. I've decided to pawn the boy off on my friend P's husband...he has to stay home with their 2 small children anway...so why not???
Randomness - you know you are getting old when the new summer students start at the law firm you work for...and you totally expect some good eye candy...BUT they look like little boys...not grown men...I swear these dudes likely don't even have to shave...baby faced men that they are...my guess is they are no older than 15...but I've been assured that they are in fact in their mid-20s...wow. It is not me that is getting too old...it's my friend...yep uh huh...I'm still just a young'un myself...don't believe me...well it's up to you to prove that I'm not!!!

Sounds like you had fun! I so need a girls weekend! My last one was in November while Lee went deer hunting but I still had the kids during the day!
I think sitting around the fire is relaxing too! So much fun! I agree weekends are too short!
Sound like you had a great weekend. A fire pit sounds so cool. Wish we had one. I worked for a law firm since I was in high school and the older I got the younger the summer students got. So funny!
Here's the recipe. Once I get my act together I'll start posting some recipes with Menu Plan Monday. I'm lucky I got the menu planned this week. My husband's away and my dog is sick!
Baked French Toast
1 stick butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
slices of bread (approx. 15 pieces)
6 eggs
2 cups milk
maple syrup
Melt butter and add brown sugar and cinnamon. Make a paste and spread over bottom of a 9x13 pan.
Remove crusts of bread. Make 2 layers of bread over sugar mixture. Fill in sides and ends with smaller pieces.
Beat eggs and milk together then pour over bread. Bake for 30-35 minutes at 350 degrees. (I bake it more like 40 min) Drizzle with syrup and put under broiler until brown and bubbly. I started with 1 min and then kept checking every few seconds. It burns easily.
When you serve it, flip it over so the sugar on the bottom is on the top. It's so yummy I can't wait to make it this week.
Much love from NJ,
Sue

I miss sitting around a fire. We don't do that much here. *sigh*
My brother has a fire pit and he swears by it!
You should totally start digital scrapbooking. I love it. The files are HUGE though, and Andy is actually buying me an external hard drive just for my digiscrap files - they are just taking up too much room on my computer.
Email me and we can chat more about it!
Ha! You know you are getting old when the bag boy at the grocery store calls you ma'am. Ugh.
Love the updates to the blog. Looks great.
We have a fire pit too, awesome!
What?? No good eye candy?? Didn't you tell your boss that is a priority?!
