Injured...again!

So, remember 2 weeks ago when the boy had a sledding accident and banged up his eye pretty good? WELLLLLLLLLLL, today I get home from work and on the same side of his face, on his cheek, is a big red scrape. He says he was playing tag at recess and slipped on some ice (yes it is STILL Winter here! urgh!) and his cheek hit some gravel.

I love that he's a 'rough and tumble' kind of boy, he's having lots of fun...BUT sometimes I long for the days when he was scared to climb the play structure (now he climbs to the top and sits up there for fun), he used to be sooo cautious and didn't like sledding because the hill was too big and he was scared to go down once he got to the top...but not anymore...he runs up that hill and zooms down...and even looks for the bumps so he'll get some 'air'. Boys!!!!

And what is with boys not wanting to shower??? I know I totally just changed topics there lol. But us moms at work today were talking about how boys are just so darn lazy...you ask them to wash their face and they wipe their face with their sleeve, or go splash water on their face...the boy and I have the constant argument that his face is NOT really clean and to get it clean he needs to use a face cloth!

Back to the shower, it seems I have to negotiate with this kid when to take a shower...he acts as if it's the wost thing ever, yet once he's in there he has no problem cleaning up and washing his hair, etc...and it's all done within 10 to 15 minutes...so what's the deal kid??? Anyway, it seems to be a common thing among boys aged 6 to 16...Some say when they start to like girls they shower every single day...but I remember my brothers being gross and icky right up until they moved out lol. I hope the boy starts to care about his hygiene much earlier than 8 years from now!!!!

Aww, what a little clutz hehe. My boys are little dirt balls too. I usually don't have much of a problem getting them to take a bath or shower but they don't comprehend that they have to WASH their bodies and hair with SOAP to be clean lol. They're at the age where I can't sit in there with them anymore, so I have to just check on them to make sure they did all that. 9 times outta 10 they didn't. Boys will be boys I guess!

(Hey - I left my first comment on your pick-up line post - that was awesome!)

Boys don't like to shower. It is just a fact. I have to beg and push my husband to shower on the weekends if we aren't going anywhere and he is doing projects. He says that because he is doing outside work where he'll just be sweating anyway what's the point? The POINT is I don't want to smell you all the way in my kitchen when you are still in the backyard!

My 7th grade teacher sat us down one day for "health class" and told us we were old enough to to start showering everyday - we took the hint.

Good luck! :)

Madison protests the shower sometimes too so maybe its not just a boy thing. She is far too busy to take 10 mins for a shower. *rolling eyes*

Poor R, jesus he is having a hard time!

Boys! I guess I'm really in for it. Aiden hasn't even turned 3, and I have to make sure he doesn't ride his big wheel down the big hill. He did that a couple of weeks ago and flipped over. He just got up and tried to do it again! I don't even want to think about the whole showering thing... He is such a neat freak right now. "I NEED to wash my hands!!!" My 10 year old sister hates showering too. So maybe it really isn't just a boy thing!

Poor uy! He is just getting banged up lately huh?!? Anthony is a mess... The other day I was washing his body in the tub and I was shocked at how dirst his sins were! So I was scubbing away when I realized it wasn't dirt spots but BRUISES! He is constanly throwing himself off the couch banging down to the floor. He is soo rough! His shins are just filled with bruises! BOYS! :)

I don't have kids, but I work outside with them every day and yes, boys are SO rough! I can't believe how fearless they are when it comes to stuff. And I am big on showers, so I'm kind of dreading the day I have a kid who won't wanna take one. That grosses me out!

I think it takes a while on the boys and shower thing. My little cousin is that way and he is 12 - last year after football practice he was staying here and did not want to shower and I told him if he didn't shower he would have to wash the sheets and put them on the bed the next day. He showered...
